F3-M2 Link

In March 2002 the Federal Government commissioned a study into a proposed freeway linking the current F3 freeway and M2 motorway in Sydney's north-west.

On 25 July 2003 it was announced that four options had been identified, all of which would mostly be in tunnel. The closing date for public comment was Friday 3 October 2003.

On 6 May 2004 it was announced that the preferred corridor is the Type A Purple option.

Our Position

STEP is opposed to the proposed link as it will ultimately:

  • increase traffic on the local road network in the long term
  • encourage a rush of unsustainable car-dependent development in the region and particularly on the coast
  • cause changes to travel behaviour that increases air pollution in the Sydney Basin
  • have the potential to destroy local bushland

What you can do

Change only happens when community members become involved. Whether you are a local resident who wants to have a say on the link, or an individual who wishes to lobby for sustainable urban transport in general your comment is important.

Have your say on the proposed F3-M2 link.
