Central Coast Needs

For the majority of residents,
there is no real choice other than to use a car
Shaping the Central Coast, Planning NSW

The current population of the Central Coast is 293,000 residents. Ninety percent of  these people live in the urban districts of Woy Woy peninsula, Gosford-Narara Valley, Erina-Terrigal, The Entrance-South Lakes, Wyong-Tuggerah, Toukley-Budgewoi, Warnervale and Gorokan.

It has been estimated by Planning NSW that the Central Coast is likely to have to accommodate about 368,000 residents by 2021 (or an increase of approximately 80,000). This makes it the fastest growing area of the Greater Metropolitan Region.

Due to shortfalls in jobs in the region, a large proportion (30,000 residents) of Central Coast residents are forced to commute to Sydney for work. The average resident spends about two hours a day commuting to Sydney via the F3.

It is clear that the Central Coast will need greatly improved mass transit options to manage the projected population growth.
