Walk: Cumberland State Forest

CumberlandForestThis forest was purchased in the 1930s by State Forest because it was regarded as one of the few remaining areas in Sydney with sufficient size and soil type to be able to sustain tall sclerophyll forest and rainforest. We will examine the rare and beautiful Blue Gum High Forest and Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest before returning to see some of the rare gully rainforest plantings. The lack of regeneration of the cleared orchard area on the former IBM land after 70 years will also be considered.
