Australia Day award for Jill Green

Australia Day award for Jill Green

STEP is delighted that our president, Jill Green, has received Ku-ring-gai Council’s environmental citizen of the year award.

As our president for the last 14 years, Jill has spear-headed our most recent campaigns to conserve bushland. In addition, Jill’s commitment to the natural environment is reflected in her voluntary work with council and Lane Cove National Park as a member of the Ku-ring-gai Bushcare Association and Environment Advisory Committee, and a volunteer on four Bushcare sites and one Streamwatch site.

Jill has many strengths, but her research, writing and networking skills are exceptional. For example she produces our newsletters and writes most of our submissions. She has established solid and respectful relationships with council staff and local environmental groups and has been involved in the creation of coalitions of groups focussing on single-issue campaigns such as the Powerful Owl Coalition, the Natural Turf Alliance and Save Westleigh Park.

Jill never shies away from committing to a worthwhile environmental cause and she always does what she says she’s going to do with grace and dignity.
